At its meeting on September 20, 2024, the Supervisory Board of Flughafen Dortmund GmbH elected Ulrich Jaeger as its new Chairman. Jaeger, who has been Chief Transport Officer of Dortmunder Stadtwerke GmbH (DSW1) since November 2022, 21, succeeds Heike Heim.

In addition, the infrastructure at Dortmund Airport is being rebuilt to support the Federal Police. This includes the expanded entry control point at check-in positions 0-2, which has already been put into operation, as well as the new, larger entry control point east for positions 10-12, which opened in mid-2024.

These measures are part of the preparation for the European Electronic Entry and Exit System (EES), which will introduce biometric controls and is expected to lead to longer waiting times. In order to minimise delays, the Supervisory Board has also decided to build an enlarged exit control point with four control lanes, which is to be built this year.
