At the beginning of September, Eurowings will resume connections from Nuremberg to important German metropolises.

The flights to Dusseldorf will start on September 1st, and Hamburg will start on September 13th. There are flights from Monday to Friday - Hamburg also on Sunday. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays, there are two daily flights in the morning and evening. This means that day trips are possible again on both days.

The proportion of passengers with a final destination within Germany is expected to be only five percent of the total number of passengers at Nuremberg Airport in 2022. For comparison: ten years ago this proportion was around 25 percent. The background to this development is, on the one hand, the market consolidation as a result of the Air Berlin insolvency. On the other hand, the flight connection to Berlin was discontinued in 2019 after the opening of the ICE high-speed line.

“Even if the domestic German rail connections from Nuremberg have become more attractive and competitive in recent years with the commissioning of various new lines, the time advantage of flight connections for routes over 400 kilometers is still significant. This is the only way, for example, for one-day business trips over these distances. In this respect, the two domestic German routes to Hamburg and Düsseldorf remain important for the connectivity of the metropolitan region, ”says Michael Hupe, Managing Director of Nuremberg Airport.
