Berlin-Brandenburg Airport is richer by one mishap: coliform bacteria were found in the water of Terminal 1. Now this may no longer be used as drinking water, although the cause of the pollution is unclear.

The health department and the water supplier were informed immediately. All lines must now be flushed, but this process takes several days. The passengers are to be informed by means of leaflets and loudspeaker announcements that the water may not be drunk for the time being.

This is annoying for travelers who fill their own bottles from dispensers or taps in washrooms. The only alternative currently available is the high-priced purchase of bottled mineral water.
