Norwegian and pilots' union reach agreement after arbitration talks

Advertising

After two days of arbitration talks, Norwegian and the Norwegian Pilots Union (NPU) announce a positive agreement in the form of a new collective agreement. This averts the impending threat of strikes.

"I am pleased that we have reached an agreement and that we will avoid strikes. First and foremost, our customers who want to travel with us will be relieved by this news. All eyes are now on the upcoming summer season and we look forward to welcoming our customers on board," said Geir Karlsen, CEO of Norwegian.

The agreement affects 690 pilots employed in Norway. Despite the agreement, there may be flight cancellations due to the announced strike, as new crew cannot be found for Norwegian's entire flight schedule. Passengers whose flights are affected will be notified directly. “Unfortunately, these cancellations are a possible consequence, but we are doing everything in our power to get customers back on the road as quickly as possible,” said Geir Karlsen.
