Nuremberg: Wheelchair user accidentally put on wrong plane

Advertising

An unfortunate mixup at Nuremberg Airport resulted in an 83-year-old senior woman in a wheelchair being accidentally put on the wrong plane and landing in Albania instead of Athens.

The airport spokesman called this a result of an unfortunate chain of various circumstances and communication problems with the non-German or English-speaking customer. The woman's daughter expressed her incomprehension about the situation and emphasized that her mother did not have a ticket for a flight to Albania.

The incident occurred on May 22, 2024 and was dealt with internally by the airport, adjusting the procedure accordingly to prevent a recurrence. The airport has apologized to the passenger's daughter and offered support, including covering all costs incurred for onward transport and flight booking.
