Nuremberg Airport in Bavaria was used by 2022 passengers in 3.277.996. This almost tripled compared to the value achieved in 2021. However, it was about 20 percent below the volume of 2019.

In 2022, a total of 71 destinations were flown to, in 2021 there were 39. The largest airline in Nuremberg is currently Ryanair, followed by the holiday airline Corendon Airlines. Mallorca proved to be the most popular destination with almost half a million passengers, followed by Antalya in Turkey (420.000 passengers) and Istanbul (195.000). The Lufthansa hub in Frankfurt was again heavily frequented (143.000).

In 2023, the number of passengers is expected to increase further. The summer timetable currently includes 63 non-stop destinations - more could follow. The tourist focus is on Italy, Spain, Greece and Turkey. "Next summer, the range of flights will again reach the level it was before the pandemic, and in some cases even exceed it," announces Michael Hupe, Managing Director at Nuremberg Airport. "Thanks to optimized processes and more staff in the operational areas, passengers should be able to take off in a relaxed manner."
