Olympic Games: France introduces temporary passport controls

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

This year the Olympic and Paralympic Games will take place in France. For this reason, the government is introducing temporary border controls in the Schengen area from May 1, 2024 until October 31, 2024.

All land borders with Germany, Belgium, Luxembourg, Italy, Switzerland and Spain are affected. In general, random checks should be carried out at all sea and air border crossing points. What this means for airline passengers is that they must expect that the police may ask them to show their ID card or passport after landing at a French airport between May 1, 2024 and October 31, 2024. It is to be expected that there may be waiting times.
