Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport has set a new passenger record during the North Rhine-Westphalia summer holidays in 2024. With 164.248 passengers, the airport recorded an increase of 8% compared to the previous year, when 151.854 passengers were counted. This success exceeded the airport's forecasts, which assumed more than 150.000 passengers.
The main reason for the increase was the high booking situation for holiday flights to popular destinations in southern Europe. A total of 1.156 large aircraft took off and landed at Paderborn Airport during the six-week holiday period. Airport Managing Director Roland Hüser emphasized that operations ran smoothly, which was due to the good preparation and commitment of the employees.
The increasing use of the Munich hub also made a significant contribution to the positive result. More and more passengers are using this connection to reach destinations in Europe, North America and Asia. Paderborn/Lippstadt Airport benefits from its good accessibility and often shorter travel times compared to larger airports.
