After being stuck for several days due to flooding on the Danube, the passengers of the river cruise ship MS Thurgau Prestige were able to disembark in Vienna on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. The 99 passengers, mostly from Switzerland, had been stuck in Vienna since September 14 because the flooding had made disembarkation at the original pier impossible.

The Austrian authorities granted the ship a special permit to leave the flooded pier in Vienna Nussdorf and dock at Handelskai instead. Thurgau Travel, the ship's operator, organized the passengers' return journey and announced compensation. The cruise was originally planned to go to Budapest.
