Since the beginning of the holiday season, police officers have been taking over security checks at Hahn Airport after employees of a private security company went on strike. The police union (GdP) sharply criticized this deployment and stated that this additional task was pushing the police to their limits.
Steffi Loth, state chairwoman of the GdP, called for security tasks to be returned to the private company as soon as possible and stressed that police enforcement assistance should not be a permanent solution. The airport itself announced that operations are continuing as normal, while the security company concerned has not yet issued a statement.
