Dortmund Airport celebrated the resumption of non-stop flights to Craiova International Airport in Romania on Monday, June 2, 2025. An Airbus in the airline's signature livery took off as scheduled at 8:45 a.m. for the southern Romanian city. This connection expands the range of Eastern European destinations from Dortmund.
Wizz Air will once again serve the Dortmund-Craiova route three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The flight time is approximately two and a half hours. Dortmund Airport thus underlines its position as one of the few German airports to offer this non-stop connection. Craiova, located near the border triangle of Serbia and Bulgaria and southwest of Bucharest, is a university city with a historic center, modern elements, and cultural institutions.
In addition to its history and architecture, Craiova also offers green spaces such as Nicolae Romanescu Park and the Botanical Garden. The city's Christmas market attracts many visitors, especially during the Christmas season. The resumption of air service is intended to make it easier for both business travelers and tourists to travel to the region and strengthen cultural and economic ties.
