Danger of strike: KV negotiations at Austrian Airlines failed

According to the Vida union, the negotiations for a new collective agreement for the flying staff of Austrian Airlines have failed – at least for the time being. It is now no longer ruled out that there could be a call for strike immediately before the Easter holidays in 2024.

The union described the latest offer that Austrian Airlines made through the Chamber of Commerce as “fictitious”. You demand an “honest offer”. The employee representatives are now discussing how to proceed. It might be possible to be invited to company meetings again or to call for a strike.

If there were work stoppages immediately before or even during the Easter holidays in 2024, then this would be extremely painful for the self-proclaimed “home carrier”, as booking figures are said to be very good. Given that the Lufthansa Group is accepting strikes at other airlines, it cannot be ruled out that AUA's aircraft could soon also come to a standstill and thousands of passengers could be temporarily stranded.
