The Russian state-owned company Rostec believes that deliveries of the Tupolev Tu-214 machine can begin next year. In the face of Western sanctions, production has resumed.

In the first attempt, the Tu-204 and the Tu-214 were certainly not a box office hit. The model, which can be roughly classified in the size class of the Airbus A321/Boeing 757, can score points with a long range, but various operators complained about allegedly high fuel consumption.

According to Rostec, it has already concluded contracts with airlines such as Red Wings and Aeroflot. Negotiations are also underway with other potential operators. It remains to be seen whether the unspecified delivery date of “2024” can be met and to whom the first unit will go.
