Royal Jordanian Airlines establishes new direct connection between Vienna and Amman

Royal Jordanian Airlines, the national airline of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, will launch a new non-stop service between the Austrian capital Vienna and its home hub Amman on June 24, 2026.

The route to Queen Alia International Airport will be served four times a week, with flights operating on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. Modern Airbus A320neo aircraft, equipped with features such as Wi-Fi internet access, will be used. This expansion is part of a large-scale growth strategy aimed at significantly increasing the airline's presence in the European market.

Behind the new flight connection is the ExploRJordan initiative, through which the country aims to attract more international travelers to its cultural and historical attractions. The focus is particularly on the rock city of Petra, the Wadi Rum desert valley, and the Dead Sea. Karim Makhlouf, Chief Commercial Officer of Royal Jordanian, emphasizes that the route utilizes Vienna as a strategic gateway to Central and Eastern Europe. Through the connection to the hub in Amman, passengers also gain access to over 50 connecting flights to the Middle East, the Levant, and Asia, further strengthening Vienna's role as an international aviation hub.

Vienna Airport welcomes the airline's commitment as an important signal during a challenging time for the region. Airport board member Julian Jäger sees Royal Jordanian's decision as a vote of confidence in Vienna-Schwechat Airport. The additional service complements existing connections to the Arab world and promotes economic exchange and the tourism sector in both countries. The frequent flights will appeal to both business travelers and vacationers, who will benefit from shorter travel times thanks to the elimination of layovers.

Additional market analyses demonstrate that Royal Jordanian is consistently pursuing its fleet modernization and aims to nearly double its aircraft fleet by the end of the decade. The integration of the new A320neo aircraft on the Vienna route is a key component of this modernization, as the model offers greater range and improved efficiency compared to older variants. This positions the airline competitively with other carriers in the region, relying on a combination of modern onboard service and traditional Jordanian hospitality to secure market share in Europe.
