The Dubai Air Show is currently taking place in the United Arab Emirates. This differs from other aviation trade fairs of the time in the presence of Russian manufacturers. Due to Western sanctions, in which the UAE does not participate, Russian industry, for example, had to stay away from the Paris Air Show.
In Dubai, the Rostec Group in particular wants to present itself particularly extensively and is exhibiting numerous products from its portfolio. It is hoped that orders can be won from countries that are not participating in the sanctions or are considered to be supporters of Russia.
The United Arab Emirates has also come under criticism because, through intermediaries based in this country, Russian airlines have repeatedly managed to obtain spare parts that are not allowed to be delivered directly to the Russian Federation due to the sanctions.
"The Dubai Airshow is one of the most important international exhibitions for Rostec, where we traditionally present the achievements of the domestic aviation industry. Participation in the event provides us with a valuable opportunity to establish direct contact with potential partners and customers from the Middle East," said Vladimir Artyakov, Deputy General Director of the state-owned Rostec Concern.
Pretty much everything from the group's current product portfolio will be presented. According to Rostec, the focus this year will be on military aircraft. For example, the Ilyushin Il-76MD-90A and numerous helicopters will be on display. Artyakov said: "This year we will be presenting a number of new products at the event, one of which will be really large-scale. We are talking about the heavy transport aircraft Il-76MD-90A(E), which will certainly attract the attention of visitors."
