On Thursday, June 5, 2025, Salzburg Airport transformed into a running track for the eighth annual AIRportlauf (Airport Run). Around 500 participants ran for an hour on the apron to raise funds for the "Assisted Living" project run by Lebenshilfe Wals. The kilometers run and half of the entry fees raised a total of €13.500.
Runners competed in various categories, including individual and team competitions for men, women, and mixed teams. Even the youngest participants participated enthusiastically, with the children's category focusing on the fun of running. In addition to the athletic achievements, the most creative team name was also recognized, creating a relaxed atmosphere.
In total, the athletes and amateurs covered 4078 kilometers. The proceeds from the AIRport Run will finance renovations and improvements at the Lebenshilfe Wals facility. These measures are intended to enable residents to live a more comfortable and independent life. The event offered participants not only a unique setting and a positive atmosphere, but also the opportunity to contribute to a charitable cause.
