The security checks at Dresden Airport will now be carried out by Securitas after the previous service provider ESA Luftsicherheit had its contract terminated due to non-payment of wages. ESA had already lost the contract at Berlin-Brandenburg and Weeze airports for the same reasons.
Tobias Soppart, Managing Director and Segment Director Aviation at Securitas Germany, emphasized the quick and smooth transfer of tasks as well as the reliability of Securitas as a partner of the Federal Police and the aviation industry. Leonard Menz, Operational Director at Securitas, assured the 80 employees taken on that they would have secure jobs and punctual salary payments. Despite earlier reassurances from the airport and the Federal Police, the situation in Dresden does not seem to have improved under ESA.
