Print Friendly, PDF & Email

A strike by security staff severely affected the Belgian airport of Charleroi on Tuesday. All departures were cancelled due to the industrial action. Charleroi is an important location for the Irish low-cost airline Ryanair.

The unions and the airport have been negotiating for several months to improve working conditions for employees. The strike shows the ongoing tensions between employees and management.

According to reports, the strike is due to inadequate working conditions and poor pay. The unions are demanding an increase in wages and better working hours and conditions for security staff, who are a central part of airport operations.
