Advertising

The low-cost airline Wizz Air Abu Dhabi has announced changes to its flight schedule for September and October 2024. Some routes from Abu Dhabi will be cancelled.

The low-cost airline Wizz Air Abu Dhabi has submitted changes to its flight schedule for September and October 2024. The routes from Abu Dhabi are particularly affected. The Abu Dhabi-Ankara route will be removed from the flight schedule at the end of August, more precisely on August 30th. Flights to Kuwait City will also be discontinued on September 1st, 2024. The Abu Dhabi-Salalah route will also no longer be served as scheduled, with the cancellation taking place on September 1st, 2024 instead of October 26th, 2024. The same fate befalls flights to Sarajevo: the capital will continue to be served until September 28th, 2024, instead of October 26th as originally planned.

The Abu Dhabi – Ankara route was probably not as popular, even though travelers from both countries would frequently visit one another. This might be since several travelers from the UAE would prefer to visit Istanbul (the largest city) and similarly, several travelers from Turkiye may have a preference to visit Dubai. I used this route several times when traveling between Istanbul and Dubai. However, I would get a train from Istanbul to Ankara first, just to get on board the Wizz Air flight, then getting the bus from Abu Dhabi to Dubai upon arrival. Turns out, numerous other passengers were doing the same. Hence, I suppose (as an alternative), Wizz Air could offer the Dubai – Istanbul route, even at a slight premium. It's already flying further distances, so I think this could be a possibility.
