An Embraer 120 turboprop aircraft carrying 30 passengers and four crew members suffered a landing accident at Aden Adde Airport in Mogadishu. The machine, operated by Halla Airlines, lost control shortly after touching down and crashed into a wall to which a fence is attached.
The plane was en route from Garowe to Mogadishu. The flight was completely unspectacular until the failed landing. Immediately after touchdown, the pilots lost control of the Embraer 120. The machine went off the runway at high speed and then crashed into the wall supporting a fence. One of the wheels also broke off.
The incident happened on July 11, 2023 at around 11:23 a.m. local time. Coincidentally, the accident was recorded by a camera. Photos showing the affected Embraer 120 after the crash landing show that the cockpit has "buckled" from the rest of the machine.
According to official information from the Somali Ministry of Transport, all occupants are said to have survived. Only two people are said to have been seriously injured. An investigation into the cause of the accident has already been launched.
