Study: Camping holidays continue to be popular

Advertising

According to a current study by the German Economic Institute for Tourism, camping holidays increased significantly during the corona pandemic. Motorhome parking spaces were particularly in demand. In Germany alone, the total number has increased by over 50 percent.

Sales rose to around 2020 billion euros in 14,1. In a direct comparison with the value from 2016, this also means that an increase of around twelve percent was achieved. The study primarily deals with the situation in Germany and was also able to determine that less known areas benefited from the strong demand for camping.

It is also interesting to note that many holidaymakers who opted for a camping holiday did so partly because they believed the risk of coronavirus infection might be lower than, for example, in hotels. The full study is available for free download in PDF format at this link.
