A recent study by HHL and Forsa shows that Leipzig/Halle Airport continues to enjoy great support in the region. Surveys in June and July 2024 showed that 89 percent of the 1.059 participants see the airport as important for the economic development of the region. This corresponds to the results of a similar survey from 2022.

71 percent of those surveyed see the airport as an asset, and 84 percent welcome the airport's development into an air freight hub. 57 percent of participants consider the expansion plans to be harmless. 70 percent said they rarely feel disturbed by aircraft noise.

Götz Ahmelmann, CEO of Mitteldeutsche Flughafen AG, emphasized the airport's role as a driver of economic growth and innovation. Prof. Dr. Timo Meynhardt from HHL underlined the airport's importance as a reliable partner with important contributions to the common good. Thorsten Thierhoff, Managing Director of forsa, sees the results as a strong signal of support from the region.
