Now it is fixed: The fleet of the German Tuifly is halved and around 700 employees have to leave. The VC criticizes the decision.

The supervisory board of Tui AG gave the green light for the austerity program on Thursday. This includes the reduction of the Tuifly fleet to 17 aircraft. As a result, numerous jobs will be cut. The Cockpit Association strongly criticizes this step and accuses that state aid is used to cut jobs.

“We are appalled by the decision to reduce the fleet and jobs at Tuifly and consider it a serious mistake. It is the wrong way and deeply reprehensible that the company is using the Corona crisis to cut German jobs with the help of German tax money. This decision is economically senseless and socially irresponsible at the same time. It smashes political porcelain that the Tui will urgently need in the crisis, ”said VC President Markus Wahl.
