The Swiss airline Swiss will introduce a new type of shoe for its employees, equipped with extendable wheels, starting July 1, 2025. This innovative footwear is intended to increase the mobility of ground staff and boost efficiency within the airport.

The so-called "Swiss Crew Shoe" can be used as a conventional shoe or, if necessary, converted to a rolling function at the push of a button. This allows flight crew to move more quickly between aircraft and ground staff to travel within the airport more quickly. According to the company, this can save employees up to 60 minutes of travel time per day.

Prior to its launch, extensive testing was conducted to ensure the safety and practicality of the shoe. Realistic airport scenarios were simulated, including slalom courses and braking tests, which the shoe successfully passed.

The shoe's design features a simple, timeless white color with a subtle Swiss logo. Integrated LED lights make it easier for passengers to immediately identify crew members at the airport. This measure underscores Swiss's commitment to continuously developing innovative solutions for smooth and efficient flight operations.
