Swiss suspends flights to Washington DC for one month

Swiss has announced that flights to Washington DC will be temporarily suspended during the coming winter season due to insufficient demand.

The connection will be discontinued for one month between January 25 and February 21, 2025. Instead of the originally planned seven flights per week, only five flights per week will be offered in the current winter flight schedule. The capacity freed up during this time will instead be used for additional flights to Johannesburg, as a spokesperson for the airline explained.

The decision follows the announcement in May that the new connection to Washington DC would also be operated in winter. Chief Financial Officer Dennis Weber commented on the situation on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, and emphasized the adjustments that are necessary to respond to demand.
