The logistics group Zeitfracht has made a takeover offer for Rostock-Laage Airport and intends to buy it by the end of the year. According to Norddeutschem Rundfunk, the prospects that the public sector will accept the offer are very good.

Rostock-Laage Airport has suffered horrific losses in recent years, so politicians have repeatedly considered privatization. Managing director Dörthe Hausmann told the NDR that negotiations had started in the summer of 2021 and Zeitfracht had made an offer to buy. According to the manager, this enables the airport to adopt a new strategic direction.

The Zeitfracht Group recently caused a stir with the takeover of the insolvent Adler fashion chain. In the aviation sector, German Airways (formerly WDL) is one of the companies. Blue Air was previously involved. The former Zeitfracht subsidiary Luftfahrtgesellschaft Walter had to file for bankruptcy at the beginning of the corona pandemic.
