Austria is facing significant traffic problems this weekend due to numerous major events. The Greater Vienna area is particularly affected by the Rainbow Parade, the Summer Night Concert, and the Nova Rock Festival in Nickelsdorf. Popular traffic jams such as the Tauern Autobahn (A10) and the Vienna Südosttangente (A23) are also expected to be congested, although the situation is not expected to be as dramatic as last weekend.
Extensive traffic closures are expected in Vienna. On Friday, June 13, Vienna's Ringstrasse will be closed between Franz Josefs-Kai and Operngasse from 19:30 p.m. to approximately 22:00 p.m. due to the Pride Run. On Saturday, June 14, the Rainbow Parade will march along the Ringstrasse, leading to extensive closures in the city center from midday onwards. The parade is expected to begin at 13:13 p.m. at Rathausplatz and move around the Ring in the opposite direction of traffic. Drivers should expect closures, detours, and traffic jams until the evening hours. The ARBÖ advises that cars should only be used for journeys in the city center in an emergency. At the same time, the Vienna Philharmonic's Summer Night Concert will take place in the Schönbrunn Palace Gardens on Friday, June XNUMX. The access roads, especially Schönbrunner Strasse and Hadikgasse, will be very busy. Given the limited parking spaces, the ARBÖ recommends traveling by public transport.
The Nova Rock Festival in Nickelsdorf, Burgenland, will attract tens of thousands of music fans from June 11-14. Heavy traffic is expected on the Eastern Autobahn (A4) and the B10 as early as Wednesday. ARBÖ traffic experts are warning, in particular, of the return wave on Saturday night and Sunday morning. On Sunday, June 15, the Ironman Austria will also take place in Klagenfurt, leading to road closures in Klagenfurt, Velden, and the southern part of Lake Wörthersee from the early morning hours. The Kärntner Straße (B83), the Loiblpaß Straße (B91), and the Wörthersee Süduferstraße (L96) will be affected, among others. In the Salzkammergut region, the 5-Lakes Marathon in Mondsee will cause temporary delays on Sunday, although the race track will not be closed. The Holi Summer Festival will take place in Innsbruck on Saturday, June 14, which may cause delays on the Innsbrucker Straße (B174).
