The travel group Tui is disappointed by the German federal government's plan to increase the aviation tax on May 1, 2024.

In an interview with the Handelsblatt, managing director Ebel explains that it really came like an “ambush” and that “the rules were changed in the middle of the game”. In this regard, he points out that the vacation trips would have been calculated on a different basis. The youngest manager also criticizes the strikes that were organized by “specialist unions” and that have literally paralyzed the country on several occasions, especially in the railway sector. Germany needs more reliability and predictability again.
