Vienna Airport is taking another step toward improving its service quality and is establishing the joint venture "Vienna Airport Logistics GmbH" with international logistics expert Bradford Airport Logistics. The goal of the joint venture is to fundamentally renew the airport's supply chain. Starting in 2027, all goods flows for the new southern extension of Terminal 3 and all other terminal areas will be managed centrally, efficiently, and securely via a newly constructed logistics center that will supply more than 100 shops and restaurants.

The corresponding agreement establishing the joint venture was signed by representatives of both companies. Philipp Ahrens, who already serves as Head of Center Management at Vienna Airport, will assume management of Vienna Airport Logistics GmbH. According to Vienna Airport, the new logistics infrastructure will form the logistical backbone of the terminals and professionalize the entire supply chain. Bradford Airport Logistics, a global leader in airport logistics solutions, contributes its expertise from over 25 contracts with international airports to the joint venture.

The core of the new logistics concept is a centrally located, approximately 6.000 square meter logistics center with direct access to the airport apron. Here, all deliveries will be bundled, security-checked, consolidated, and promptly forwarded to the respective shops and restaurants in the terminals. This centralized process is intended to significantly reduce the number of individual deliveries and make operations more predictable and less disruptive for operators.

With the southern extension of Terminal 2027 scheduled to open in 3, Vienna Airport's offerings will be significantly expanded. Thirty new shops and restaurants will be built on approximately 70.000 square meters, bringing the total number of shops and restaurants at the airport to over 30. In the future, deliveries to these and all existing facilities will be handled exclusively via the new central logistics center.
