Vienna-Schwechat Airport now has another curiosity richer, because a vineyard was planted in the area of the entrance road, near Office Park 4. This consists of 144 vines and is freely accessible.

Airport boss Günther Ofner carried out the symbolic division ceremony together with the winemaker Robert Payr. Around 250 guests attended the ceremony, which was followed by a wine tasting.

“AirportCity Weingarten bundles the strengths of the region. Vienna Airport is a powerful international hub and state-of-the-art event location. At the same time, more than 23.000 employees find their jobs in AirportCity. This gratifying cooperation is now allowing the region to grow even closer together,” says Günther Ofner, CEO of Flughafen Wien AG.

Vienna Airport and the Rubin Carnuntum wineries combine the strengths of the region at a hub in the first airport vineyard: Vienna Airport offers space for the first airport vineyard on an area of 400m² directly in front of Office Park 4 and on the access road . The experienced and excellent winegrowers of the Carnuntum region plant the vineyard with 144 vines, including the four varieties Isi seedless, Lidi, Muskat Bleu and Palatina. The vineyard is managed by the "AirportCity Rubin Carnuntum Team" under the direction of winemaker Stefanie Böheim.

“We are very pleased about the cooperation with Vienna Airport. The international place where so many people fly, arrive, network and work every day offers the perfect business card for the Rubin Carnuntum wineries,” adds Robert Payr, winemaker and president of the Rubin Carnuntum wineries.
