Vienna Airport is facing a significant expansion: the Viennese real estate developer Mamma Group has begun construction of the largest hotel at the site and the fourth largest in Austria.

The new hotel will be operated under the Vienna House Easy by Wyndham brand and is a remarkable project in terms of architecture and sustainability. With 510 rooms, the hotel will not only increase the hotel capacity at the airport to over 1.400 rooms, but will also be Europe's largest hotel built using wooden construction. The opening is planned for the end of 2025.

Construction of the largest wooden hotel in Europe

The Vienna House Easy by Wyndham Airport Vienna will be built using an innovative wood-hybrid construction method. This marks a significant advance in architecture, as it is the largest hotel in Europe to be built from wood. The building includes a CO2-free heating and cooling system and will be partially powered by a photovoltaic system on the roof. These environmentally friendly measures are part of a comprehensive sustainability concept that the Mamma Group and its partners have implemented to minimize the hotel's ecological footprint.

The new hotel will not only significantly expand the hotel capacity of Vienna Airport, but will also strengthen the economic importance of the location. Johanna Mikl-Leitner, Governor of Lower Austria, emphasized that the construction of the hotel sends a strong signal for the region. It will create new, modern accommodation options, provide additional jobs and provide economic stimulus for the region. This assessment is underlined by the anticipation and support of the local government and business representatives.

Collaboration and visions

The construction of the Vienna House Easy by Wyndham Airport Vienna is the result of a successful collaboration between various partners. Herbert Pinzolits, owner and CEO of the Mamma Group, was proud of the project, which is being realized under the current challenging conditions. He emphasized that the return of the Vienna House brand to Vienna is a significant step. Jörg Beginen, COO of the HR Group, emphasized that the hotel will be a modern flagship of the Vienna House family, combining lifestyle, digital services and sustainability.

Günther Ofner, CEO of Flughafen Wien AG, pointed out the importance of expanding hotel capacity. This is a response to the high demand and a sign of optimism and confidence in the future of travel and AirportCity. Wolfgang Scheibenpflug, Head of Real Estate and Site Management at Flughafen Wien AG, added that the proximity to the airport and the good connection to roads and rail infrastructure offer ideal conditions for companies to settle here.

With the new hotel, AirportCity Vienna is expanding its overnight accommodation capacity and range of services. Vienna Airport will thus become the hub of a growing city with over 23.000 employees in more than 250 companies. The Vienna House Easy will be the third hotel at the airport location and offers an attractive offer for both business travelers and holidaymakers.
