The subsidiary airports in Luqa and Kosice were hit even harder: Malta had only 0,5 percent of the previous year's passengers and the Slovak airport did not handle any passengers.

In the Corona month of May 2020, Vienna Airport recorded a decline of 99,3 percent. This trend continued at the beginning of June 2020, however, due to increased offers and renewed travel freedom, an increase is expected from June 15, 2020.

In May 2020, the effects of the global COVID-19 crisis were still clearly felt: The number of passengers at the Flughafen Wien Group (Vienna Airport, Malta Airport and Kosice Airport) fell by 99,4 percent to 23.283 travelers. The Vienna Airport location recorded a decline of 99,3 percent to 20.202 travelers. Cumulative from January to May 2020, the number of passengers at Vienna Airport fell by 57,6 percent to 5,0 million travelers.

The decline in passengers continued into the first weeks of June. Starting today, June 15, 2020, there will be more scheduled flights from Vienna again. Slight increases in passenger numbers are therefore to be expected, although these will still be significantly below the level of the previous year.

At the Vienna Airport location, the number of passengers dropped in May 2020 by 99,3 percent compared to the same period of the previous year to 20.202 travelers. The number of local passengers fell by 99,1 percent, the number of transfer passengers fell by 99,9 percent. Aircraft movements recorded a minus of 2020 percent in May 95,6. In terms of freight volume, there was a decrease of 34,2 percent compared to May of the previous year.

The number of passengers at Vienna Airport to Western Europe fell by 2020 percent in May 99,3, and to Eastern Europe by 99,3 percent. Passenger traffic to North America was down 100 percent and Africa was down 100 percent. In the Near and Middle East, the number of passengers fell by 99,4 percent. The number of passengers traveling to the Far East fell by 2020 percent in May 98,8.

At Malta Airport, the number of passengers dropped by 2020 percent in May 99,5 and Kosice Airport recorded a drop in passengers of 100 percent.
