The Hungarian low-cost airline Wizzair is reducing the flight offer from Vienna-Schwechat again: With the exception of the destinations Pristina and Tenerife South, all other destinations will be paused in November 2020. This emerges from the reservation system of the Indigo Partners participation.

Due to the low demand, which is due to the corona pandemic, Wizzair has been driving the Presence in Vienna gradually decreased. Finally, the Dortmund and Athens destinations should also be served in November 2020. However, the entry requirements have changed in both Germany and Greece, which - as comparable cases in the past have shown - is likely to have a negative impact on demand. The consequence of this is that Wizzair will temporarily only make two trips per week. On Friday, the Pristina route is served and on Saturdays it goes to the Canary Island of Tenerife.

Wizzair recently emphasized to Aviation Direct that they want to have a long-term presence on the Austrian market and that the flight plan in Austria will be carried out in full, as far as the travel restrictions, which are not within Wizzair's area of ​​responsibility, allow. The airline also hopes that these will be canceled as soon as possible so that the full flight plan can be carried out from Austria.

From the beginning of December 2020, some destinations will be bookable again, with the resumption being staggered. According to the current planning, some destinations are to be reactivated shortly before Christmas, others in January 2021 and others with the beginning of the summer flight schedule period 2021.

In Salzburg is pausing the entire Wizzair offer For several weeks. With the exception of the destinations St. Petersburg and Kiev-Shulyany, the resumption of the routes has been postponed to the summer of 2021. The routes to Russia and Ukraine are to be started shortly before Christmas, although it remains to be seen whether Wizzair will actually take this step or possibly have to postpone it due to the unforeseeable further development of the pandemic.
