Viennese hotel industry expects strong occupancy over the Easter holidays

Advertising

The Viennese hotel industry is optimistic about the upcoming Easter holidays. According to Dominic Schmid, Chairman of the Viennese Hotel Industry Association, hotels are already experiencing very high booking rates. Only a few rooms are still available. Schmid attributes the strong demand, among other things, to the popular Easter markets, which have now developed a similar appeal to the traditional Advent markets. He compared the importance of the Easter season for tourism in Vienna to the Christmas season, only with warmer temperatures.

The appeal of Vienna's Easter markets has spread internationally and draws numerous visitors. The markets' location throughout the city also ensures a good distribution of tourist flows. Compared to the peak season in December, room rates are currently still moderate, which makes the destination even more attractive, according to Schmid. The hotel industry chairman is also optimistic about the upcoming holidays in May.

For the period around May 1, the Viennese hotel industry currently expects occupancy of around 85 percent. Bookings have already been received for the remaining holidays in May. Schmid emphasized the diversity of Viennese accommodation providers, ranging from vacation apartments to five-star hotels, and their overall excellent performance. The ongoing tourism boom in the Austrian capital thus appears to be continuing.
