When the buds of the approximately 100.000 apricot trees open, the world cultural heritage site shines in a delicate pink. In order to experience this natural spectacle in a particularly stress-free way, the Wachau communities have put together an incentive for gentle mobility for visitors. On the two weekends in March, travel on public buses within the region is free.

Anyone interested can find out where the apricot trees can be admired when they are blooming on the website www.marillenbluete.at or in the “Wachauer Apricot Blossom” folder. This is available for free collection in the Wachau communities and information points or can be downloaded online. In addition to information about the individual apricot-growing communities, the hot-off-the-press folder and website also provide details about the bus service including stops.

If you want to completely indulge in the experience of the apricot blossom, you should leave the car at home and opt for a climate-friendly alternative. The Wachau World Heritage communities are offering public bus travel on the 16th and 17th. and 23-24. March for free. The Wachau line 715 north of the Danube and 720 south of the Danube run at regular intervals between Krems and Melk - both cities that are easily accessible by train - and stop in all major towns in the Wachau. This means you always have the opportunity to stop and take a walk through the blooming apricot gardens. In addition to the main lines in the Wachau, lines 718 Mühldorf and Spitzer Graben, as well as line 446 Angern near Krems, are included in the mobility offer.
