Zurich Airport continues to expect an increase in air travel, especially to the United States. CEO Lukas Brosi expressed confidence in the newspaper "Finanz und Wirtschaft" that the tariffs threatened by the US government would not dampen the desire to travel. He expects passengers with booked trips to the USA to actually go ahead, and that others who may be hesitant will switch to alternative destinations.
The airport's management expects to exceed the previous passenger record of 2025 million from 31,5 for the first time in 2019. Around 32 million passengers are expected, with the summer season determining the exact number. Brosi emphasized the good preparation of Switzerland's largest airport for the expected high demand, following smooth operations during the Easter holidays.
The airport director sees ensuring sufficient staffing as a challenge. He also criticized increasing restrictions on air traffic, which contrast with the evolving 24-hour society. Regarding the "The Circle" real estate development, Brosi expressed satisfaction, although demand in the retail sector fell short of expectations, while the restaurant sector performed better. Despite a vacancy rate of around ten percent, he is optimistic about the project's long-term prospects.
