With the end of a strong 2024 summer season, Tui, Europe's leading tour operator, is turning its focus to the upcoming winter season. While bookings for the colder months are in full swing, Tui is already seeing a significant increase in bookings.

Particularly noteworthy is the trend towards early bookings, which gives the company a solid start to the winter season. The coming months promise a variety of travel options, from long-haul trips to exotic countries to classic winter holiday destinations in Europe.

Traditionally, winter is the high season for long-haul travel, and this year too, many holidaymakers are opting for destinations outside of Europe. Thailand tops the list of the most popular long-haul destinations, followed by the Maldives and Mauritius. Thailand continues to enjoy growing popularity, which is underlined by the strong growth in booking numbers. The region offers not only paradisiacal beaches, but also cultural highlights and a diverse cuisine that attract travelers from all over the world.

The Maldives, a favourite for luxury beach holidays for years, remains popular. Tui is offering five weekly flights with Austrian Airlines from Vienna this winter, giving guests even more flexibility when planning their trip. A particular highlight is the option to fly in Premium Economy Class, which promises additional comfort and privacy.

In addition to classic destinations such as the Maldives and Mauritius, Vietnam is also experiencing increasing demand. The country is particularly popular for its combination of beach holidays and tours. Tui plans to further expand its hotel portfolio in Vietnam and is opening the Robinson Nam Hoi An in December, a new highlight for discerning travelers.

Medium-haul destinations: Canary Islands, Egypt and Cape Verde

Tui has also expanded its offerings on medium-haul routes. The Canary Islands are the most popular destinations. Tui has expanded its program with additional flight capacity to Fuerteventura and Lanzarote. The Canary Islands offer pleasant temperatures all year round, making them an ideal destination for winter refugees.

Egypt also remains a favorite among Tui guests. The regions of Hurghada and Marsa Alam in particular attract sun-seekers. The Egyptian coastal towns not only offer first-class diving opportunities, but also numerous resorts that are ideal for an all-inclusive vacation.

Another highlight on medium-haul routes is the Cape Verde Islands. The group of islands in the Atlantic has developed into a popular travel destination in recent years. From December 20, 2024, Tui will again offer direct flights from Vienna to Sal, which will further increase the attractiveness of the Cape Verde Islands.

Winter holidays in Austria: A paradise for snow lovers

In addition to long-distance and medium-haul trips, Austria remains the preferred destination for snow holidaymakers. Tui is expanding its offering in the Austrian Alps with two new Tui Kids Clubs. These are aimed specifically at families and offer numerous leisure activities that appeal to both children and parents. Particularly noteworthy is the Tui Kids Club Sonngastein in Bad Gastein, which offers one of the largest play and adventure halls in Austria.

Tui is also expanding its offering in the top ski areas such as Zillertal, Wagrain and Saalbach Hinterglemm. The Time To Smile Aparthotel Golden Lodges in Rauris is particularly popular for families and couples who prefer an apartment holiday in the snow. With modern apartments and direct access to the ski slopes, it is the ideal starting point for winter sports enthusiasts.

Modernization of the branch network and digital innovations

Tui is not only investing in its travel offerings, but also in the modernization of its branch network. By the end of 2025, all Tui travel agencies in Austria are to have a modern, sustainable shop design. These measures are intended to improve the feel-good atmosphere in the branches and offer customers an optimal consulting experience.

In parallel with the modernization of its branches, Tui is driving forward the integration of the various sales channels. The myTui app plays a central role in this. The app is continuously being developed further with dynamic content and personalized offers. 85 percent of Tui customers already use the app, which will offer exclusive benefits such as personalized Tui coupons in the future.

Outlook for the 2024 winter season

The 2024 winter season promises a diverse selection of travel destinations and offers for every taste and budget. Tui is committed to growth and innovation to meet the different needs of its customers. Whether exotic long-haul trips, classic beach holiday destinations or winter fun in the Alps - Tui has something for everyone. With new hotels, expanded flight capacities and a modern distribution network, the signs are pointing to a successful winter season.
