After two difficult years due to the pandemic, the Bavarian Easter holidays were the acid test for Nuremberg Airport - the gratifying result: With almost 160.000 passengers in the two weeks of vacation and a total of 250.000 expected passengers in April, the forecasts were significantly exceeded.

Corendon Airlines – known for the FCN Jetz – as the largest tourist airline at the airport and Ryanair with a strong European offer played a significant part in this. "The desire to travel has returned with great dynamism," sums up airport manager Michael Hupe, referring to the particularly popular holiday classics such as Mallorca and Antalya. This summer there will again be up to 70 non-stop destinations from Nuremberg to choose from. For the first time, long-awaited new city destinations such as Dublin, London (Heathrow), Tallinn, Valencia and Venice are also included.

Busiest day was Sunday, April 17th with around 11.000 passengers. During the holiday period (08.04.-24.04.) around 1.200 take-offs and landings were counted in Nuremberg, the leisure airlines from Corendon (135), Eurowings (106) and Ryanair (370) accounted for more than half. New airlines were British Airways with the connection to London Heathrow, Condor with flights to Palma de Mallorca and GP Aviation with Pristina. In early summer, other destinations (e.g. Athens, Belgrade, Ibiza and several Greek islands) will be added to the summer flight schedule from Nuremberg.

With the tailwind of the strong Easter holidays, the airport is expecting more than 250.000 passengers in one month for the whole month of April for the first time. This corresponds to around 85 percent of the passengers before the pandemic (see April 2019).
