Edelweiss, is preparing for a new development: the launch of the new Airbus A350 with a modernized livery. The redesign includes both external and internal adjustments that preserve the airline's identity while bringing a breath of fresh air to its visual appearance.
The most important change concerns the external design of the aircraft. The familiar red nose and the characteristic Edelweiss flower are retained, but the design is refined. The Edelweiss flower, which has always been a central trademark of Edelweiss, is presented in a more modern form on the tail fin. The flower retains its blue, white and yellow colors, but the contours are more finely designed, giving it a more elegant appearance. Particularly striking is the extension of the red area from the vertical stabilizer, which now extends to the fuselage and curves upwards. This shape is repeated on the nose of the aircraft, giving the overall appearance a dynamic touch.
A highlight of the new design are the sharklets on the wing tips, which are decorated with the Edelweiss flower on the inside. This not only offers an aesthetic enhancement, but also a popular photo motif for passengers. Nina Wach, Head of Brand Management & Marketing Communication at Edelweiss, expressed her delight at the upcoming changes: "We are looking forward to seeing the first Airbus A350 in the modernized design. In addition to the six new Airbus A350s, we will also gradually add the adapted design to the existing Airbus A320 fleet."
Interior adjustments and equipment
The first Airbus A350 is currently in a shipyard in Shannon (Ireland), where it will receive the new paint job. In addition to the external changes, internal modifications will also be made. In spring 2025, the aircraft will be in service for Edelweiss guests for the first time in the new design.
Inside the Airbus A350, the existing seating will be retained for the time being. However, a comprehensive redesign of the cabin is planned for the second half of 2026. The Airbus A350 will be equipped with 30 seats in Business Class, which feature generous legroom and the ability to fold the seats completely flat. Economy Max class offers 63 seats with more seat pitch, while Economy Class has 246 seats. All seats are upholstered in blue Edelweiss fabric. 9-inch screens are integrated in Economy and Economy Max, while 19-inch screens are used in Business Class. In addition, all seats are equipped with power and USB ports.
