Things are currently not going well at Berlin-Brandenburg Airport. In an interview with Tagesspiegel, the new managing director Aletta von Massenbach said that the airport's liquidity will only be sufficient until the end of March 2022.

Among other things, the manager said: "We need money quickly, we need cash". Von Massenbach put the financial requirement up to 2026 at around 2,4 billion euros. "For a long time we will not be able to handle the debt service ourselves," the airport manager told Tagesspiegel.

The German Federal Ministry of Transport is not very happy about the chaos for which BER has repeatedly hit the headlines in recent weeks. The ministry led by Andreas Scheuer (CSU) asked the BER Society to submit a written report. The federal government holds around a third of the shares.
