Afghanistan crisis: Lufthansa carries out special flights for the German government

Advertising

On behalf of the German government, Lufthansa is carrying out special flights from Tashkent and Doha to Germany with the Airbus A340-300. On board are people who were flown out of Afghanistan by the German Armed Forces and the air forces of other countries after the Taliban came to power.

In a media release, Lufthansa writes that an airlift would be set up at short notice on behalf of the government to support the federal government with the evacuation. In this way, Lufthansa enables the first special flight from the Central Asian country, which is currently not regularly served by any Lufthansa Group airline, quickly and flexibly, within just a few hours. Traffic rights were applied for at short notice, crew deployment planning was carried out and the aircraft released for use.

As part of the airlift and in coordination with the federal government, Lufthansa will be operating further flights from Tashkent, Doha and other neighboring countries in the next few days.
