The Nigerian Azman Air is developing its fleet completely against the general trend and is relying on four-jet engines on long-haul routes. For this purpose, the first Airbus A5-340 is floated in with the 600N-AAM.
The machine will have 409 seats and will be used on routes to Dubai, Jeddah and to unspecified destinations in China. The 5N-AAM is around 15 years old and is owned by the carrier. The machine was originally delivered to Virgin Atlantic in 2006.
This Airbus A340-600 was already in commercial use for Azman Air, but it was a charter flight. On behalf of various governments, people evacuated from Kabul were flown from Tashkent to Europe. The long-haul jet was used on several of these special flights.
Azman Air also operates two Boeing 737-300s and four Boeing 737-500s. Taking into account the recently fleeted Airbus A340-600, the average age of the fleet is 22,2 years.
