In an innovative move, Air Asia has announced an exciting partnership with video game giants SEGA and Atlus. The collaboration aims to introduce newly designed aircraft liveries inspired by popular video game characters, as well as create unforgettable experiences for passengers during their flight. By beautifying two of its aircraft, AirAsia not only aims to win the hearts of gaming fans but also take travel experiences to a new level.

As part of this cooperation, the Airbus A330 with the registration 9M-XXU was decorated with characters from the well-known game series “Sonic the Hedgehog”. Passengers can look forward to characters such as Sonic, Tails, Knuckles, Shadow and Amy Rose adorning the exterior of the aircraft.

Another aircraft, an Airbus A320 with registration 9M-AFF, features characters from the popular game Persona 5, specifically Joker and Morgana. These creative designs will be visible on flights across the AirAsia network, including major airports such as Bangkok (BKK), Tokyo (NRT), Seoul (ICN), Taipei (TPE), Shanghai (PVG) and Sydney (SYD).

A milestone for AirAsia

AirAsia CEO Rudy Khaw described the partnership as a significant step for the brand as it allows it to delve into the exciting world of gaming and pop culture. He said: "This partnership is a natural fit for AirAsia as it fits perfectly with our commitment to creating experiences for our guests and communities." Khaw highlighted that AirAsia embodies the pride of the ASEAN region and aims to showcase the creative energy of the region through this collaboration.

Culinary experiences on board

To further enhance the gaming experience on board, AirAsia offers a special catering highlight: the "Sonic's Golden Ring Cakes". These golden ring cakes with mango and lemon flavors are a tribute to Sonic's iconic golden rings.

Passengers can pre-order these special cakes on all AirAsia Malaysia (flight code: AK) and AirAsia X Malaysia (flight code: D7) flights. Each order comes with a fizzy Yuzu iced drink and a complimentary Sonic sticker. This is a clever marketing move to further enrich the in-flight experience and actively engage passengers in the theme.

Merchandise

In addition to the special cakes, AirAsia plans to offer exclusive Sonic the Hedgehog and Persona 2025 merchandise, available on all AirAsia Malaysia and AirAsia X flights from the first quarter of 5. This will undoubtedly increase anticipation among the gaming community and position AirAsia as an airline that offers more than just a transportation service.
