Since October 27, Air Cairo has been offering a new non-stop connection between Cologne/Bonn Airport and the Egyptian capital Cairo. The first flight took off on Sunday morning as scheduled at 11:40 a.m. The connection will be operated twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays, with an Airbus A320. The flight time is around four hours.
Cologne/Bonn Airport is thus expanding its offering for travelers who are increasingly looking for sunny destinations in autumn and winter. According to Thilo Schmid, the airport's managing director, the new Cairo connection not only enriches the route network, but also serves the high demand for trips to historically and culturally significant places. Cairo is known for its UNESCO-protected old town and sights such as the Pyramids of Giza and the Sphinx.
In addition to Cairo, Air Cairo also flies year-round from Cologne/Bonn to the Egyptian holiday destinations Hurghada and Marsa Alam, which are particularly popular with beach holidaymakers. The new route thus offers German tourists more travel options to Egypt.
