Die Tage des Airbus A380 scheinen gezählt: Air France will die sechs im Dienst befindlichen Riesenflieger nach der Corona-Krise nicht wieder in die Luft bringen. „Der Ausstieg passt in die Strategie der Group zur Vereinfachung der Flotte, um wettbewerbsfähiger zu werden“, heißt es in einer Mitteilung. Man wolle die entstehende Lücke durch neuere Flugzeuge wie A350 und Boeing 787 ersetzen.

Ähnliches diskutiert auch A380-Großkundin Emirates (115 Jets im Dienst, neun weitere bestellt). So sagte Airline-Chef Tim Clark der Zeitung „The National“, dass „die Zeit der A380 vorbei ist“. Das Magazin „Arabian Business“ berichtet, dass nur noch 20 der Riesenflieger im Dienst bleiben sollen. Seit Ende März stehen die Maschinen am Boden.
