A few years ago, during the Farnborough Air Show, airlines Air Nostrum and Cityjet announced that they were going to merge. Since 2018, the project – at least in public – has not really made any progress. An application for approval of the merger has now been submitted to the EU Commission again.

During the Farnborogh Air Show 2018, the two airlines surprisingly announced that they would merge into a joint holding company. Flight operations should also be merged. Not much has happened since then, but the formal application was withdrawn during the corona pandemic.

Now the interest of the owners of Air Nostrium and Cityjet seems to have flared up again, because a new application for approval of the merger was recently submitted to the EU Commission and the national competition authorities.
