In 2018, the Carinthian state politicians saw the best solution for the airport in a majority partial privatization of Klagenfurt Airport. Surprisingly, 74,9 percent of the shares went to the Lilihill Group around Franz Peter Orasch. The group, which specializes in real estate development, had no prior experience in the operation of commercial airports. The cooperation between the minority shareholders (public sector) and Lilihill was marked by disagreements from the start.

A lot was announced by the private investor, but little was actually implemented. For example, I promised to build hub connections with the Liliair brand. Since the GmbH in question is not an airline itself and large network carriers generally do not enter into cooperation agreements with "virtual constructions", it would at best be a point-to-point connection, but not a real connection to hubs with all the advantages that interline and entail codeshare agreements. Liliair hasn't taken to the air anyway, although one reported snifflythat the project will then be implemented at a different airport.

The public sector has meanwhile created facts. The fact that Lilihill did not participate in the capital increase, which was necessary, among other things, to pay the wages and salaries of the airport employees, led to the state of Carinthia (K-BV) and the city of Klagenfurt jointly owning the majority arrived. Now it has also been formally decided to exercise the so-called call option. This means that the airport will again be fully owned by the public sector in the future. The state of Carinthia and the city of Klagenfurt have already approved and approved the necessary funds.

Within the next three weeks, the management appointed by Lilihill will be replaced by a new CEO. Carinthian state politics no longer wants to bring a private investor on board with regard to the debacle that arose at Klagenfurt Airport. It is now believed that the airport itself can be better developed. However, it is not mentioned that many mistakes, which led to the fact that hardly any airline is interested in the regional airport, were made before the partial privatization.

    call option
I had a dream: Despite all the annoying reports about Klagenfurt Airport, there is also a positive aspect. The call option. One should definitely consider using this form of contract in other areas of life. For example, a call option could be integrated into voting rights. If elected mandataries or parties do not deliver the desired performance after an agreed period of time, the voter withdraws his or her vote. In the age of AI, this shouldn't be a technical problem. It's quite possible that most governments will be voted out again by mid-term at the latest. On the other hand, one would save oneself opinion research institutes, because the real mood situation is depicted practically every day. Theoretically (very theoretically) it would even be possible to keep well-functioning governments in office for more than a period without an election. So also a financial gain. This electoral law change could even be helpful in less democratic states, because it could save you every attempted coup. Putin could watch live every day as his popularity wanes. A vision: Carinthia's wonderful treaty idea is changing the electoral system around the world. Then I woke up and saw a black man pulling a red ripcord...
