The number of passengers at Berlin Brandenburg Airport Willy Brandt increased significantly in Berlin and Brandenburg last month.

A total of 1,8 million people used Terminals 1 and 2 of BER in April. That was 500.000 more passengers than in March 2022 and 1,5 million more than in the pandemic month of April 2021. In April of the pre-Corona year 2019, 3,1 million people traveled via the then Tegel and Schönefeld airports. This means that a total of 4,8 million people took off or landed at BER Airport in the first four months of this year. That is four million more passengers than in the first four months of 2021.

“With almost five million passengers in the first four months of this year, we have already reached half of the entire previous year's level. This makes us optimistic about the further development of air traffic this year. The Easter holidays in particular have shown that BER Airport is prepared for an increase in flight operations. Together with our partners, we continue to work hard to offer our passengers the smoothest possible processes in the future," says Aletta von Massenbach, CEO of Flughafen Berlin Brandenburg GmbH.

Last month, 14.600 aircraft took off and landed at BER, 2.100 more than in March. In April 2021 there were 4.800 take-offs and landings. In 2019, 24.600 flight movements were registered in Tegel and Schönefeld.
