ANA puts Vienna and Munich on hold

When the Japanese All Nippon Airways will return to Vienna and Munich has not yet been determined. According to Carrier, the resumption of the two connections to Tokyo is still on hold. One observes the demand "very closely and reacts flexibly to it".

The Tokyo Nariata-Düsseldorf route is expected to remain suspended until October 30, 2021. The destinations Stockholm, Milan-Malpensa, Moscow and Istanbul will also be postponed. The daily connection between Tokyo Haneda and Frankfurt am Main will continue to operate.

Those long-haul connections that will continue to be served will increasingly be served with Boeing 787s. The use of this pattern should bring ANA cost advantages. For the 2021 financial year, the airline expects domestic routes in particular to make a significant contribution to earnings. In Japan, the network is being reorganized for this in order to be able to serve routes with higher demand.

Carrier hopes to do business within Japan

Due to the ongoing effects of Covid-19, all changes or suspensions of the flight plan on the ANA's domestic routes are reviewed and published monthly. As soon as an increase in demand is expected, the airline can react quickly and flexibly and either increase the flight frequency or serve the route with larger aircraft. The same applies to the domestic fleet that the large aircraft are retired early. Aircraft are also temporarily used for international routes on domestic routes. The operation of smaller and medium-sized aircraft cuts costs, so the use of larger aircraft will be reduced by 50 percent compared to the previous financial year.

Depending on demand, the company will continue to reduce the number of flights on domestic Japanese routes. Conversely, the supply is expanded seasonally in line with demand - for example during vacation times. The domestic business is the sales driver at ANA in the current phase. As a result, the company will be very forceful in reorganizing its route network in order to maximize revenues in this area. During the summer, ANA expects an increased demand for trips, accordingly the offer to Okinawa, Hokkaido and on the route Tokyo / Haneda - Miyako will be increased.
