ANA returns to Munich

The Japanese airline is returning to Munich Airport after a break due to the pandemic.

With the start of the summer schedule on March 26, 2023, ANA will resume direct service to Tokyo's Haneda Airport. Initially, the route will be served three times a week. So far, the airline was only represented from Munich with a codeshare connection from the joint venture partner Lufthansa. From Germany, the airline with its own aircraft has so far only operated twice a day from Frankfurt. The Star Alliance member is thus getting closer to the normality of the pre-crisis period: Until the beginning of 2020, the airline had taken off to Tokyo four times a day: twice a day from Frankfurt, once a day from Munich and once a day from Düsseldorf.

In addition to the Munich – Haneda route, the flight connection between Brussels and Tokyo/Narita will again be served twice a week in Europe. The airline will also be flying regularly to Australia (Sydney and Perth) from the end of March this year.

"We are very pleased that we can now expand our service between Germany and Japan, which we have already significantly expanded again in 2022, to include Munich. We are currently feeling a significantly higher demand for Japan flights, which we are currently finding difficult to service. In Germany, this applies above all to private travel: Many people have postponed their vacation in Japan and now finally want to travel. The additional flights from Munich help us. We very much hope that we will soon be able to take the Dreamliner to Tokyo/Haneda every day again from southern Germany,” says Maria Petalidou, Head of Sales & Marketing Germany.
